What to do if you see someone behaving suspiciously?
If you see anyone acting suspiciously or find any items left unattended, please reach out to any member of Heathrow Express or railway staff, contact us using a station help point, or inform the British Transport Police through the methods below under their ‘See it. Say it. Sorted.’ guidelines.
British Transport Police
The British Transport Police are the national police force for the UK’s railways.
When to contact the British Transport Police?
Text 61016* or call 0800 40 50 40 when:
- you want to report an incident discreetly that has already happened
- issues are affecting you at the station or on-board the train
- you have a general police enquiry
The text number is monitored 24/7 and, while it is not for reporting emergencies, Officers may be deployed if required.
When to dial 999?
Always dial 999 when you need an urgent police response such as:
- A crime is happening
- Someone suspected of a crime is nearby
- Someone is injured, being threatened or in danger
If your enquiry concerns buses or roads, you can contact local police anywhere in the country by dialling 101.
Baggage and personal belongings
In line with Heathrow Express' and Heathrow’s policy, all items of luggage and other personal items should not be left unattended at stations, onboard train services, or any other locations at Heathrow.
Any items left unattended will be removed by security.
Heathrow Express & Paddington’s policy on alcohol
Passengers using Heathrow Express services, Heathrow Airport and Paddington Station are expected to drink responsibly and not disturb others.
Any person who we believe is behaving disruptively, or offensive manner towards staff or other passengers, may be refused access to, or may be required to leave, our trains, stations and platforms which Heathrow Express services operate from.
Penalties for not having a ticket
All passengers travelling on a Heathrow Express service are required to have a valid ticket before boarding a train.
Failure to produce a valid ticket at request could result in a penalty fare being issued. The penalty fare is £100, plus the full single fare of your intended journey. If the penalty is paid within 21-days of issue, it is reduced to £50 plus the price of the applicable single ticket.
CCTV
All stations at Heathrow, as well as Heathrow Express platforms at London Paddington are fully covered by CCTV, creating a safer and more secure environment for all passengers and staff.
